The Library of the University of Ioannina and its Branches open to their public on Tuesday, October 12, 2021!
According to the announcements of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs regarding the in-person operation of Universities with increased protection measures (17-09-2021) and Government Gazette 4337/t. B’/18-9-2021 regarding the protection measures against the risk of further spread of Covid-19, as well as the decision no. 1692/05-10-2021 of the Rector’s Council of the University of Ioannina, the operating conditions of the Library as of October 12 are:
Operation in safety conditions due to Covid-19:
- Check vaccination certificates / negative Covid-19 certificates
- Login of a predetermined number of users for use of Reading Rooms (by appointment).
- Commitment of material for study within the site.
- Borrowing material upon electronic request.
- No access to bookstacks and collections.
- Limited use of photocopiers.
- Submission of an electronic request for Interlibrary Loan material.
- Delivery of Evdoxos books by appointment.
- Deposit to the OLYMPIA Repository via the self-deposit service or by appointment.
Detailed operating instructions in safety conditions due to Covid-19:
1. Instructions for the arrival of users within the Library.
- Presentation of vaccination certificate (completed at least 14 days ago) – or –
- Presentation of a certificate of illness of the last six months – or –
- Demonstration of a certificate of negative result from a diagnostic laboratory test (rapid or PCR).
- The members of the Foundation demonstrate the negative diagnostic results that they must perform 2 times a week – every Tuesday and Friday.
- External users (members of the Library) present a negative diagnostic result which has been conducted 48 hours before their arrival at the Library.
- The use of a mask inside the Library is mandatory.
- Frequent hand disinfection is strictly recommended.
- The number of simultaneous users within the Library should not exceed 60 people.
- External users who are not registered in the Library cannot enter its premises.
- During their visit to the Library, all users must observe the personal hygiene measures recommended by EODY and follow the recommendations of the Staff.
2. Instructions for the use of the premises and services.
Reading Rooms – Computer Lab – Photocopiers
- Undergraduate students of the University of Ioannina and external users who are registered members of the Library can use only its ground floor, which functions as a Reading Room (available seats: 50).
- Undergraduate students who are not members of the Library can contact the User Service Department in order to activate their registration.
- Postgraduate students, PhD candidates and the research staff of the Foundation can also use the sixth (6th) floor of the Library as a Reading Room, as well as the study offices located there (available offices: 6, available places: 4).
- Postgraduate students who are not members of the Library may contact the User Service Department in order to activate their registration.
- Users use the positions set by the Library Staff according to the instructions for keeping the required distances.
- The use of two (2) photocopiers is allowed
- Access to the bookstacks is not allowed.
- The use of shared computers is not allowed.
Services
- Opening hours: The Library serves its public daily, Monday – Friday, 8.00 – 15.00.
- Entrance and use of the Library: For the use of the Reading Rooms (in the Central Library and its Branches) users should make an appointment on the special platform accessible from the Library’s website.
- The maximum time spent in the Library is three (3) hours.
- The use of Library material for study within the premises is declared on the platform during the application process of the scheduled appointment. This material is quarantined after the user leaves the Library.
- Borrowing: The borrowing of Library material is carried out upon electronic borrowing request through the Library’s website.
- Users who enter the Reading Rooms with a predetermined study appointment can pick up the books they have requested for borrowing and carry out the borrowing themselves at the special self-check station (valid only for the Central Library).
- Return of material: Returns of borrowed books are made by depositing them in the return box (bookdropbox) located at the entrance of the Library.
- Users who enter the Reading Rooms with a predetermined study appointment can return the books they have borrowed to the special self-check station (valid only for the Central Library). The material returned to the Library is quarantined in a specially designed area.
- Interlibrary Loan: Interlibrary loan requests are submitted electronically according to the instructions on the Library’s website.
- Eudoxus: The return of Evdoxos’ writings to the Library takes place daily with physical presence after contacting the Evdoxos Office of the Library.
- Submission of papers to the OLYMPIA Institutional Repository: The electronic submission of postgraduate theses and doctoral dissertations to the OLYMPIA Institutional Repository through the self-deposition service is recommended.
